How to Become a Hero
This area and province is in the northwestern part of Costa Rica and considered one of poorest areas. Poverty in Costa Rica has reached the highest level since 1992 (26.2% of all households). According to the National Institute of Statistics and Census, the number of people living in poverty has increased to a level not seen for three decades. Support is needed more than ever before.
We believe that every animal should receive the care needed, regardless of their family’s financial situation. In order to provide services, we have created our Guayabo Hero Fund. With contributions from individuals and businesses, we can serve even more people and animals — as well as serve more animals at our rescue.
All too often, pet owners cannot afford the total cost of the veterinary care their pet needs. Left with no medical options, they must make a heartbreaking choice to euthanize.
