Located on 300 beautiful acres in Guayabo de Bagaces, in Costa Rica’s scenic Guanacaste Province, we are less than one hour from the newly renovated Liberia airport. Driving here is easy and breathtaking the closer you get to our rescue, which sits at a high elevation, making it much cooler with a nice breeze year round.
Located on 350 acres in Guayabo de Bagaces, in Costa Rica’s scenic Guanacaste Province, we are less than one hour from the renovated Liberia airport. Driving here is easy with cleared roads all the way to the driveway.
The town of Guayabo is a mile away on Route 164, where you’ll find delicious restaurants, bakeries, cute shops, a pharmacy, fresh produce market and grocery store, bars, and a bank. This is rural Costa Rica and the vibe is happy – pure vida style for sure!
There are many activities near our rescue too; including hot springs, amazing hiking (for all levels), zip-lining, and river rafting. The beaches are about 90 minutes driving time — and our favorites are Playas del Coco and Playa Ocotal.
When you visit our old-growth forest, you might see the howler monkey troupe that live in the area (especially if the mangoes are ripe), as well as parrots, and so many colorful and very rare butterflies, such as the Blue Morphobutterfly. There are many more types of wildlife awaiting your discovery in Guayabo.
While exploring also visit our orchards and pick a fresh mango, guanabana, lime … or whatever is currently ripe. The monkeys, toucans, and parrots also can be seen enjoying the fruits in the orchards.
There’s nothing better than a fresh-picked Ruby Red grapefruit for breakfast, besides eating some of our home grown honey. That’s right, we have our own bee hives cared for daily. Guests get to enjoy our delicious honey, have some fresh eggs from our hen house, love on our rescue animals, and OH take in the extreme beauty and fresh air all around!
