Guayabo Animal Rescue is located in beautiful Guayabo de Bagaces, a rural community located in the Guanacaste Province. We are close to hot springs, great dining, hiking, a national park featuring a volcano with breathtaking waterfalls, white water rafting, and much more. We are also only one hour from the Liberia Airport , with easily navigable roadways — right up to our driveway.
Guests can reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape as we sit on 300 acres in a natural forest preserve. Experience unique day trips and lodging opportunities for humans and excellent care and shelter for rescued animals.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a caring staff that speaks both English and Spanish. Guests will enjoy touring the property on foot, by ATV, or on horseback, and visiting with our rescue dogs, horses, and goats. You will also enjoy our garden area, orchids, and beehives (you will get a jar of your own delicious honey harvested on the property), while taking in the amazing views of the Miravalles Volcano. Despite the heat below, we experience refreshing cross winds, as we sit high on the mountain, as well as breathtaking sunsets and sunrises.
Each of our villas (two currently are available) are very spacious as they are 1750 sq. ft., and have a master king bedroom, and two twin bed second bedrooms (in which the twin beds can be moved together to form a king bed), two full bathrooms, full kitchen, wrap around porch, air conditioner and heat, high speed internet, breakfast included, and a washer and dryer. Each villa (one level – no stairs) can accommodate up to four adults, or two adults and two children under the age of 16.
There is also a protected gazebo next to the villas to enjoy a BBQ or the expansive views. Overnight stays include a daily visit to our hen house for fresh eggs and our own harvested honey.
Villas include:
- 2 bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other with either a king-size bed or two twin-size beds
- 2 bathrooms, with both including a glass-block walk-in shower and one includes a bidet
- Hot water throughout
- Air-conditioning, with separate controls for each bedroom and common area

- Fully-equipped kitchen (refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher)

Note: If your party requires additional space please let us know as we might be able to accommodate. Each bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and it has 1 1/2 bathrooms. Its kitchen appliances (6-burner gas stove, refrigerator/freezer and ice-maker) are all commercial-grade.
