When the Spooky Season Gets a Little Too Scary…

As we head into the season of ghosts, goblins, and giving, things at Guayabo Animal Rescue are feeling a little too spooky this year. Our rescue is overflowing — with dozens of puppies, adult dogs, and new calls coming in every day from people begging for help. It’s heartbreaking, it’s overwhelming, and it’s a clear reminder that our work is far from over.

Every kennel, every soft blanket, and every food bowl is full. Many of the dogs arriving now are malnourished, frightened, or abandoned. They come to us with one thing in common — they simply had no one else to turn to. Thanks to your support, they now have safety, love, and a second chance. But we urgently need your help to keep going.

This time of year, we rely on the generosity of our community to help cover rising costs for food, vaccines, medical care, and sterilization. The end of the year is known as “giving season,” and we’re hoping you’ll keep us in your hearts as you decide where to give. 100% of donations go directly to our life-saving programs — from feeding rescued animals to providing free and low-cost spay and neuter services for families in need.

Adoptions are also one of the best ways you can make a difference right now. When you adopt, you don’t just save one life — you make room for another animal in desperate need. If you can’t adopt, perhaps due to distance, you can still help by sponsoring one of our animals, donating, or following our social media and sharing stories online.

So as you carve your pumpkins and plan your costumes, we invite you to help make this spooky season a little less scary for the animals who depend on us. Together, we can make sure every wagging tail and soulful set of eyes has a warm, safe place to call home.

Because the real magic of this season isn’t in the tricks or treats — it’s in the kindness we show to those who need us most.
