Sunset Over Stan’s Celebration of Life
This weekend we celebrated our founder, mentor, and friend Stan Merkin. Stan was the visionary for Guayabo Animal Rescue and what a visionary he was! Stan had the dream of this rescue a decade ago and we finally became an NGO (nonprofit organization) one week prior to his passing. Stan was a leader and mentor to many and at this weekend’s Celebration of Life that became very apparent. Family and friends came together to share stories, make a toast, and talk about the good work that affected many areas of his life, one of which was Guayabo Animal Rescue.
Stan’s legacy was often brought up to him and like typical Stan, he dodged talking about anything that took the attention away from the cause at hand – saving lives and helping the people of the beautiful Guayabo area. Stan loved the people of Costa Rica very much so he fought to established Guayabo Animal Rescue, and he succeeded. We are here – saving lives and helping the people he loved.
Stan and Cindy Merkin helped so many people and will continue to do so through this wonderful nonprofit. Your support will allow us to give back to an area that until now had NO support. Saving the lives of animals is critical, but helping people who care is as well.
